Being God's Will

We spend most of our life trying to understand God's will for us so that we can make the right decisions. Sometimes trying to discern His will for our lives can be like trying to listen to a concert with earbuds in. We can see it happening all around us but we are unable to internalize it. We want to do what He wants, so why is it so hard to discern His will? What if God's will isn't so much something we try to follow as it is something we become?
